-Elephants Don’t Bite!

I recently listened to a wonderful speaker who used the phrase “Elephants don’t bite, but mosquitoes do.” He explained that it is not the big stuff that creates a threat to our lives or businesses. After all, we can see the elephant. But it is the little things – like mosquitoes, bees and spiders – that bite us. The speaker talked about the importance of taking care of the little things in business and what a fruitful impact it will have on our bottom line.

Don’t Stress, Just Address

In a recent newsletter, motivational speaker Dan Thurmon wrote about a successful week he had as a speaker at Notre Dame University. While there, he listened to other speakers, such as Mike Seamon, who spoke about his experience as the personal assistant to Lou Holtz, the former football coach of Notre Dame, during his senior year of college.

Dan Thurmon paraphrased Mike’s message:

“One thing I learned from Louis whether you are trying to win or trying to create a great experience, it is all about the details. You don't have to obsess about details, but you need to address them. You need to handle them. If you handle the details, you do it one time, and everything else falls into place.”

Dan shared three tips for getting into action and taking care of the details.

One tip is: “ If you go a little bit further than others are willing to go, you will stand out by far. Take the time to address and handle the details in your life. That small investment of time and effort will pay enormous returns.”

If you think you “juggle” a lot of details, take a look at Dan Thurmon’s preview video here.

A Dramatic Detail Pays Off

You can use handwritten notes in strategic ways to gain a reputation for caring and attending to details. Build rapport with individuals within your network who are important to you and your business. Here is how one handwritten note left a great impression – which created additional business opportunities.

“I sent a Profits in Progress note card to one of my executive clients. He loved the artwork so much that he framed the note card and put it on his desk. This framed ‘art’ caused a conversation with one of his business contacts, which resulted in referred business to me. This new contract will generate more than $50,000 in revenue and, more importantly, the opportunity to work with some of the world's most influential people , cofounders of the Global Networking System, now known as the Internet. Quite a return on one handwritten note card! The unique and beautiful note cards of the Note-Working Success System have really paid off for me.”

Details Made Easy

At PIP, we believe handwriting notes and showing appreciation is a “critical inch” of paying attention to the details. Our Note-working Success System helps you write three notes a day in less than 10 minutes. Our beautiful note cards are shipped directly to you every month and are exclusive to the system for that month. If you can’t decide what to say, we provide four sample messages you can tweak for the recipient of your note and write inside the card. And our tracking sheets help you easily keep a record of recipients and measure the results you are getting.

Health Tip:

What do you think?

We watch what we eat and what we wear. We juggle work, play, spirituality, friends, functions and more. However, many times, the real source for our success is left behind in one small detail, what we think.

In the book, You Can’t Afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought (The Life 101series), argues that “A simple thought … a seemingly innocuous, almost ephemeral event … has a significant impact on our mind, our body and our emotions.”
