Who’s Talking? We could all use a little buzz.

“What is easy is what gets done the most. What’s done the most gets cluttered. What’s cluttered doesn’t grab attention.” This quote is from a great book titled Buzzmarketing: Get People to Talk about Your Stuff.

Author Mark Hughes recommends you quit thinking about the number of "impressions" you are making and start concentrating on the number of "connections.” “When you connect with a human being, that’s far more valuable than tallying up thousands of advertising impressions that go unnoticed.”

I do it, you do it…we all do it – read fortune cookies, that is! In Buzzmarketing, Mark Hughes suggests exploring “clutter-free media” as a way of getting your message out more effectively. One story he tells is of his company creating custom fortune cookies based on the research that “almost everyone reads their fortune cookie.” In fact, research shows “that 96% of people read their fortune cookie and 67% tell someone else what it says.”

Google ALERT!
Here is a great tool that I recently learned about and wanted to pass along. At Google Alerts, you can sign up for alerts of specific phrases, key words or topics. Once a day you will be notified by email about articles that have been posted with the words or topic you specified. I've created a Google Alert for the phrase "handwritten notes."

An article from a recent alert was posted on Entreprenuer.com by marketing columnist Kim Gordon. She wrote, “What better way to make your message stand out than to express it in a handwritten note?
