Spread the Holiday Cheer with a Business Greeting
'Tis the season! If you haven't purchased your holiday cards yet, do it now and choose from our selection here. Or, stand out from the crowd and send a New Year's card, such as our gorgeous purple snowflake card.

Claudia Coplon and Steve Clements of Executive Speak/Write, oral and written communications trainers, offer tips for preparing your business holiday greetings. Regarding the importance of handwriting your holiday cards, they say, "A good (and attention-getting) effort. And, by the bye, e-mailed holiday greetings are not appropriate." Read more.

Your Three Main Goals
I recently listened to a presentation by international trainer and author Brian Tracy. He had all seminar participants create a "quick list," giving 30 seconds to write down their three most important goals in life.
He then polled the participants and revealed that almost everyone had the following on their list:
*
Relationship Goal
*
Health Goal
*
Financial Goal
What's on your goal list for 2008?
Here are some Note-Working ideas to assist in moving you forward with these three goal categories:
Relationship Goal: Relationships are built on small acts of caring. Handwritten notes are a dynamic way to show you care in both business relationships and personal relationships. If you are an executive, write two notes a week to employees who have put forth extra effort or need encouragement. If you are in sales, write one note a day to a top client or a key prospect and reference something specific. Or, write a personal note to a family member or friend, just to let them know you care. Read these Note-Working Power Tips for ideas and inspiration!
Health Goal: Our health is key to everything we want to accomplish in other aspects of our lives. The new "Motivating Me" program from PIP is an 8-week system designed to remind you of the reasons YOU want to improve health and fitness. Make this January resolution stick past the second week with a weekly reminder mailed back from your "goal buddy" with your personal reasons to drink an extra glass of water or substitute an apple for that chocolate fix in the afternoon.
Financial Goal: Make your relationships work to your advantage by increasing your profitability through stronger connections. Handwritten notes have garnered PIP clients results such as a 500% increase in setting appointments, an 87% increase in sales and a $50K contract. Read Kimberly's testimonial here.

B-SASSY and meet your goals
In the 11/25/07 "Goal Success" blog post, author of Getting Unstuck Without Coming Unglued: Restoring Work Life Balance and master certified coach Sharon Teitelbaum uses the B-SASSY acronym in creating the critical factors needed for success in meeting your goals. Take a look and see if it will help you. I really like the first "S" for START and the "Y" for YES. Sometimes starting is the hardest and giving ourselves a pat on the back is often forgotten.

Are You A Two Marshmallow Person?

A news story about children and a test with marshmallows caught my attention. It was a study about delaying gratification at an early age. Each child was put in a room and given one marshmallow and told they could have a second if they postponed the gratification of eating the first until the adult got back from a 15-20 minute errand. The findings were amazing as they tracked these kids through high school. Read more about the findings in this article by Susan Beacham.
Note: I believe that in order reach your goals, you have to balance delayed gratification with regular celebrations of small steps that have been made.

Health Tip:
We all know that a positive thought can have wonderful medicinal effects for your health and self esteem. So I went on YouTube.com to see what our friends there had to offer. Here is a funny favorite. Happiness in life can be attained by reaching your goals even if one of them is a simple as a quick snack.
